Today we remember those who have served our Country in the Military. The men and women who choose or were drafted to serve in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard sacrificed the ability to live daily with their families, they served in wars on foreign soil, deployed on ships for months at a time and served on unaccompanied duty often times with only a two week R&R. Some came home, some did not. Some healed, some did not. Most Spouses and children waited and prayed while they tried to keep normalcy in their daily lives awaiting their service members return. For some the lack of their service members presence was more than they could bear. But TODAY is their Day to remember and honor and THANK all those who have served. I am thankful for my Fathers Service, my many Uncles including my families own personal Tuskegee Airman my Uncle Octave Rainey II, my many cousins and friends and particularly in my immediate family Larry B Davenport, Emory Michael Thorpe, Albert Cooper, George Watlington Jr, TD Watlington, Hal Drayton, Kb Gordon, Judy Scott Gordon, Quinyon L. Davenport, Schanelle Baychue Davenport, Reginald Simpkins, Kimberly Schmidt-Simpkins, Elijah NO-Worries Burgos, George Watlington, John Dedeauux and too many others. I appreciate you and your sacrifices. And for the rest of us when you are out and about not just today but everyday when you see a member in uniform extend your hand and thank them.
