Today we slept in until 09:30...out the door by 11:30 and into the freeway via the slip road. We went to the town of Krapina to see the Neanderthal Krapina man discovered there. On the grounds was a sculpture garden. The exhibit was well done! Tied in history of archeology with the discovery and science of the day. We had lunch there. Hans ordered a burger and got exactly that... Guess bun is available on request ... Or not. Also on menu Weinersnitchel and Pizza... We left that town and promptly got Lost for the 3 or 4 time and headed for Veliki Tabor. We stopped at an amazing grave yard on the way...that was really beautiful. We also drove through many agricultural areas groqing corn as well as vineyards. The roads were narrow and interesting...at several points one lane which made passing dump trucks or buses difficult on a hill driving a standard...We were trying to see the castle of Veliki Tabor. The road up to the castle was hair pin switch backs, one lane cobble stone and about a 30% grade...of course I started up In second gear only to stall and slide back down hill while curving...the brakes were no Help although the hand brake Was..got to a place where I eventually was able To get car in first and gun the engine...only to make it up to the castle as they closed and Locked the doors...sigh... Inspire of that it was a zingy beautiful..see photos From Hans, Gloria and Dawn. Hans took awesome photos of the barns as we drove...We headed home from Veliki Tabor never making it to the other 4 towns we wanted to see.... We stopped at the largest mall in Croatia... They has these horses for rent for kids that were toy that they could ride... Hans refused to ride one... Saying that she would rather play mancala than be caught on a toy horse. We arrived back in Zagreb and walked to dinner. Chicken, lasagne (cheese), truffle pâté, cream of truffle and Mushroom soup...finished off with ice cream from the ice cream store! Another full day!
