Today, we took Ian back to Centennial for a developmental screening. Our pediatrician wanted this check because he was such an early preemie. Ian now weighs 15 lbs 3 ozs. and is 25 tall. A Neurodevelopmental doctor checked him out and thought everything looked normal! Hooray! A Nurse Practitioner thought he seemed healthy. A pediatric Physical Therapist did find a concern. When he stands up, he wants to stand on his tippy-toes and not flat-footed like he ought. Also, found that his upper leg and ankle muscles seemed tight. These are the kind of things they were looking for with a screening. The PT has given us some stretches we will do with him, as well as showing us how to massage these muscles with oil. Ian now qualifies for a Tennessees Early Intervention System therapist to come to the house to help with this. Any time we go to Centennial, we try to visit the ICU and see the Doctors and nurses who helped MariLynn. We were able to briefly visit with several of these people today. They practically treat us as celebrities as they see MariLynn and Ian as one of their best success stories! MariLynn even saw her favorite custodian today!
