Today we took in a family of gorgeous Barbados Blackbelly sheep that were seized by local Animal Control. One ram (not for long!), one ewe, and one lamb. Even though we have 5 goats coming in tomorrow, which will fill our available quarantine pens, we never say no to our friends at Animal Control. These officers work really hard to enforce the few laws there are to protect livestock, but really dont have any facility to house anything but cats, dogs and small animals. Most A.C. agencies send seized livestock to local auctions. New Moon Farm works with animal control agencies from across the state, to offer a safe option for these neglected or abused animals. And we never charge anything for this service.
