Today, we want to share the story of a 17-year-old B+ Hero we assisted. As weve shared before, the side effects of chemotherapy, both short-term and long-term, are tremendously destructive given the developing nature of the child receiving these toxic chemicals. One of the common side effects is infertility. This 17-year-old and his family decided to use a cryobank, so that he can hopefully have children sometime in the future. When the cryobank bill arrived, the family was in the midst of the overwhelming feeling of all the bills piling up and didnt know how they could afford this. The 17-year-old B+ Hero told his parents to have the cryobank throw away his sample because he didnt want to add this financial burden to his family. The B+ Foundation Family Assistance Program paid storage fees to keep his sample at the cryobank, so that he will hopefully be able to have kids one day.
