Today we welcome model DJ Lanaae and designer Samantha Rei to #RedDressMN! DJ Lanaae is the DJ for a local female hip hop group The Chalice, comprised of MCs Lizzo and Sophia Eris, and vocalist Claire De Lune. She has also worked with local group GRRRL PRTY on local shows and music videos. DJ Lanaae is also a hairdresser for many local artists including, Lizzo, Caroline Smith, and Sean Anonymous to name a few. She from the Aveda Institute in 2010, and now assists with onsite hairstyling for shows, press photos, and music videos. Her work has appeared in local press like City Pages and Star Tribune. DJ Lanaae is a Minnesota native, having grown up in Champlin and now currently resides in Uptown. Samantha R. Crossland began her design career with her label Blaspheminas Closet in 2000. After closing Blaspheminas Closet in September of 2013, she started anew with her new eponymous label Samantha Rei. Samantha Rei embodies the sweetness and femininity that has come to be expected from the designer. Samantha Rei draws her inspiration from such illustrators and Chris Riddell, Brom,Tony DiTerlizzi, Brett Helquist and Mihara Mitsukazu as well as stories like Alice in Wonderland and Snow White. Her hero Alexander McQueen along with designers Vivienne Westwood, Hirooka Naoto, John Galliano, Victorian maiden and Anna Sui have influenced her style. In 1998, Samantha began attending the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley, Minnesota, choosing to hone her skills as an illustrator and painter so she could pursue comic book art. After graduating in 1999, she spent a year at the College of Visual Arts (CoVA) in Saint Paul to major in illustration then continued her education at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College for Apparel Technologies.
