Today, we welcomed Abdulaleem Malik from Germany to our HQ in Waterloo. MashaAllah, Abdulaleem cycled 540km from Germany to London to raise money for Islamic Reliefs Palestine Appeal. On his journey, Alhamdulillah, he didnt obtain a single injury or puncture, and in fact arrived in London 2 days ahead of his initial plan! Abdulaleem spoke of his journey being one of a spiritual nature, allowing him to appreciate the nature and beauty of Allahs creations, and thus becoming close to our Lord. He told us about how he feels we have lost the real essence of travel with fast cars, planes and Google maps, reminding us the destination is the journey, not the end. Along the way, he encountered friendly cyclists, supportive local people and Islamic Relief staff who became like family in such a short space of time. Abdulaleem was catching a ferry to Dover, and had just 30 minutes to cycle 15 miles, and he told us: We dont realise, but Allah makes possible what appears impossible. We thank him for such an inspirational and warm session with us, and make duaa that Allah rewards him in abundance and accepts all his efforts.
