Today we will be looking at the second woman in Samson’s life: - TopicsExpress

Today we will be looking at the second woman in Samson’s life: Delilah. She is the one that we know about. Her story is very familiar to us. I want to look at something specific in her life though. Here’s some background info first. Samson and Delilah get married, and immediately some Philistine leaders came to her and wanted her to find out what was making Samson so strong. So she asks him several times and he tells her all these different things that are not true. Now, let’s skip ahead to Judges 16:16=17—“And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; that he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.” Look at these words again, put your name in this sentence. How many times have you begged, nagged, pleaded for something from your husband? In the end it was a bad thing. This is a good example of how NOT to be. I learned this lesson before I was even married, and it wasn’t even my soon to be husband that told me to stop nagging. Since then, I have been very careful to not nag. There are times when it’s necessary, but for the most part, it’s not worth it. The next time you feel like nagging, think of Delilah and how pathetic she was. Because of her a whole boatload of bad things happened. We sure don’t’ want to bring an avalanche into our lives.
