Today we would like to introduce little Mr Jack Thank you Kim Maloney for sharing your story Our little miracle Jack was born on the 19th Feb 2012 at 25+6. Jack was my 5th pregnancy and I had had no problems with the others. Wasnt the smoothest of pregnancys, I had bleeding around the 7 week mark for a few weeks, but then everything had settled down. I had been sitting on the lounge and got up when my waters broke at 25 weeks, I new it wasnt good! Our hospital in the country was not equipped to deal with babies before 34 weeks, so I was flown to Adelaide, but was then stuck at the airport for a cpl hrs as there had been a serious accident and was a shortage of ambulances. We eventually made it to WCH, I was expecting to be a long stay on bed rest, but I developed an infection and Jack was born only 3 days later. And so our journey began. Like most I was a mess, I saw him as he was wheeled past me to the NICU, but I was too scared to see him again till the next day, I tried so hard not to cry when I saw him, just watching him on the ventilator broke my heart! We had numerous scares early on, I used to get my husband to ring ahead before i went in so I could be prepared for what I might face. I used to walk past all the mothers taking home their babies every day and wished it was us! Like many of the NICU babies, he was 2 steps forward then 2 steps back, but gradually got stronger over time. After 100 days in hospitals he finally came home still on oxygen but otherwise healthy! Was a long haul as my other 4 children all under 10 were 3 hours away and I could only see them on weekends. His first 2 years he has had lots of lung troubles and asthma, but his last 9 months has been great. We love him to bits and have learnt whats important in life!
