Today will be another beautiful, dry day across Central Illinois. High temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s will be common across the area, which is just slightly below normal for June. A low pressure system will be approaching from the west later this evening. An increase in cloud cover is expected tonight. There is a chance that enough moisture could move in during the overnight hours to support a couple of isolated rain showers, but most of us will remain dry tonight. Tomorrow, the arrival of a frontal boundary is expected to spark areas of showers and thunderstorms, likely to come in two different waves. The first wave will be Saturday morning. The storms Saturday morning are currently not expected to be severe. A better chance of storms will come with the 2nd wave Saturday afternoon and evening. A few severe thunderstorms may develop from this given strong instability, with the primary threats being Quarter size hail and winds to 60 MPH. Tornadoes do not appear likely at this time. There will be a chance for thunderstorms Sunday as well. Severe weather is unlikely at the current outlook, although a couple storms could produce small hail and gusty winds to 50 MPH After Sunday, the rest of the week appears to be dry, and temperatures remaining comfortable in the lower 80s. Central IL Storm-Ready will prepare another severe weather outlook, similar to the one we prepared a couple days ago (although the risk levels will be much lower!)
