Today will be much cooler then we have seen in previous days, (mid nineties instead of mid one hundreds) however we still have the chance for some thunder storms this afternoon. We begin this morning under cool conditions for the valley floor as temperatures rebound from the mid sixties over night. The WARM up through the morning will occur slowly as temperatures reach into the eighties by mid and late morning with nineties present past noon. NOW, we have a moist (2.42 cm of water) unstable (LI:-0.5)column above (worse conditions then yesterday actually), that is already producing some thunder storms to our north east. Today, we only care about what develops south and west of our location as the jet stream is dipping low by this afternoon and will come from a south western direction. Unfortunately, we have a trough pattern passing through our area later this afternoon, ushering in upper level divergence, and cool upper level air, from the jet producing upward motion. What this comes down to is we have a moderate chance for thunder storms this afternoon with a slight chance for RAIN on the valley floor. We can expect winds to pick to up by mid afternoon and into the evening hours at 15 to 20 mph. This will be spoken of frequently through the day with a finalization in this afternoons forecast.
