Today, with my anniversary and Thanksgiving fast approaching, I am - TopicsExpress

Today, with my anniversary and Thanksgiving fast approaching, I am so grateful for supportive parents. I dont normally do this every day Im thankful for something else facebook post thing, but honestly, I woke up this morning with this burning in my heart and had to put it down. When I was just a baby in high school and pregnant, they loved me through it. Not only did they love me through it, they walked with me, encouraged me, and still found ways to be proud of me. My mom went to every appointment (and took me to Applebees for a skillet dessert after most ;) My dad, when he first learned about my pregnancy just looked at me, said everythings going to be okay and then let me fall in his lap and cry and cry while he cried with me. When I was 17 years old and sure I wanted to be married, they supported me and gave me a beautiful wedding. They were for me even when they knew I was about to step into some really tough shoes. I remember my dad standing with me at the church holding my hand to his cheek right before they swung open the doors for me to walk down the aisle, turned to me and said,Its not too late. If you want to run out of here right now Ill go with you. I looked at at him teary eyed and determined and he set his face to the alter with me not looking back and lovingly gave me away. I remember running to them on many occasions looking to be rescued from a very hard marriage (you can only imagine at 17 and 19 yrs old) and many times with tears in their eyes they lovingly said no, and encouraged me with great Godly wisdom to go back and continue fighting for love. You see, I had an amazing example in my parents of what love is. Growing up, I watched them in their marriage serve each other and never once (Im am dead serious on this one) never once fight in front of me and my sister. Still to this day they are the ones I turn to when I need advice. They are the ones my children admire. They are the ones I pray more and more each day I am resembling, because their lives are a reflection of Christ. And a big reason I am celebrating 16 years of marriage is because of their love, support and continued prayers. Ryan and I love you both so much.
