Today working at the shop, I am hearing 20 times more gunfire than I usually ever hear, including automatic weaponry and shotguns. The police are across the street at their training range, and it sounds like theyre training for war. We stopped thinking about peace a long time ago. Now we just think about preparing for the next riot, protest, or uprising. We spend more money on war and death than any other nation. We have no hope of peace. We teach our children how to duck and cover or how to aim their rifle instead of how to open their minds and their hearts. We dont forgive. We dont accept. We dont love. We only fear. We only hate. Days like these make me think there is no hope. I am a ashamed to be human. Humans as a species stopped trying to become better, and seems to me have simply given up on being anything but hateful, self loathing monsters. When they say the Angels weep, I know why. This is why I sing, and create art. Forgive my brooding.
