Today, world attention is turned to the tensions in Ukraine and Crimea. With less world attention, at the World Court in the Hague, the judges have started hearing evidence on the charges brought by both Serbia and Croatia concerning genocide during the breakup of the Yugoslav Federation in 1991. The end of Marxist internationalism in the ex-Soviet Union and Yugoslavia has led to the rise of narrow and aggressive nationalism. Thus there must be developed a strong current of humanist internationalism as embodied in the concept of world citizenship
