Today would have been my dads 99th birthday. I was born way - TopicsExpress

Today would have been my dads 99th birthday. I was born way late-in-life to my folks and earned the affectionate moniker of a divine accident. William R. Wilkins Sr.---staunch Republican, cement man, history fan, a Golden Gloves winning boxer, man with remarkable work ethic, integrity, commitment to family, God and doing good, lived to waltz at, and graciously host, my wedding but did not, sadly, live to see any of our four sons born. However, I have great faith he sees them every day and watches over, worries, prays for and roots for all of us. Though I would give anything to be snuggled up next to him on the couch watching the Minnesota Vikings play, or Muhammad Ali box, I, thankfully, see him every day in the many different qualities and characteristics of each of our four swell sons. So while there is an extraordinary void, the gifts of his kindness and goodness and the life lessons he imparted live on in so many ways, through different family members everyday right here at home---feeling richly blessed, lonesome and grateful all-at-once.
