Today you are going to hear everywhere the complaint that our fellow democrats didn’t show up. A lie built upon a portion of truth. This is not the reason why democrats handed the GOP this election. That undoubtedly was part of the cocktail. There is a group that can be made responsible for not showing up. BUT thousands and millions showed up and deserve our recognition. However, there were those who played their own interests, who drove many fellow democrats away, and more importantly, played the hand dealt by the GOP and the Tea Party, giving the independents a reason to look elsewhere... Race after race, the loss was the loss of the independent vote. And that is what we need to fix. Every single one among us that fought for their personal vision, contributed to our willful ignoring of the peoples issues. We cannot make the lives of the people better if we ignore their problems. We cannot create solutions if we ignore how the economy, the society, and the government, work. We cannot provide a light to follow when all we do is to snap pictures of the dark side and post them on the social media. We even managed to grind our hope to a fine dust washed in the rain... If we keep focusing on what the GOP and the Tea Party and the extremist do, we will get the same result in 2016... Time to try sobriety and stop doing what we are doing expecting a result that wont come. I am not of any consequence in the scheme of things. Nor I am any guru that got revelation. I am only a thinking human that knows well how we lose track of our world, chasing alluring images that appear reassuring, and refuse to see the ugliness in ourselves… It is much more satisfying to blame our fellows, and if we can invent “others” to be blamed, even better. My rights count for very little, especially at my age. The rights of our grandchildren are infinitely more important and sacred. It is everyone’s choice to protect those rights or to give them away. It is your turn now…
