And she went up to him and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me. Luke 10:40 ESV Tired and alone, Martha was busy trying to prepare food for everyone while they sat in the other room talking. It was her idea to invite Jesus over to begin with, but now it was a lot of work. Her sister Mary would not help her. She was busy listening to Jesus. When Martha could not take it any longer she asked Jesus: “Lord, do you not care? Tell her to help me.” Jesus said no. Sometimes we ask the Lord into our life and then get really busy doing all the things that we think that we should be doing and then finally throw up our hands and say: Lord, do You not care? I am alone, I am tired, I have all of this to do… I could use some help and then the Lord says no. We become discouraged. One sister worked hard for the Lord but barely knew Him. The other sat, listened, and got to know Him better. Don’t get overwhelmed making sandwiches that no one ordered. When you get too busy in life, strip away the things that the Lord is not in. They may all be good things, but you only have twenty-four hours in a day. Make it count.
