Todays Bible verse on the Thriving Pastor Facebook page was Isaiah 53:6 ~ The Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. The verse made me think. Our Lord God placed on his son, Jesus, the iniquity of us all. But what does iniquity mean? According to Dictionary, the word iniquity means a gross injustice or wickedness. It is also defined as a violation of right or duty; wicked act; sin. When Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, our sins died with him. He took our sins away. And as I sat here thinking of that, I found my mind adrift in song. Soon, the words of a Casting Crowns song filled my heart: Living he loved me, dying he saved me and buried he carried my sins far away Rising he justified freely forever One day hes coming, oh, glorious day, oh, glorious day. One day they led Him up Calvarys mountain One day they nailed Him to die on a tree Suffering anguish, despised and rejected Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree And took the nails for me Cause living He loved me, dying He saved me And buried He carried my sins far away Rising He justified freely forever One day Hes coming, oh glorious day, oh, glorious day What a glorious day it will be, my friends, when we are reunited in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There will be no more pain, no more tears...simply the joy of being with God, Jesus, and our loved ones. During this Holy Week, my prayer is that you take the time to thank Jesus, for taking OUR nails, OUR iniquities, OUR sins upon himself, so that we might live. The ultimate sacrifice: dying on the cross...may we always remember what He did, just for us to live. Amen. ~John Lloyd~
