Todays Biblr Reading, Thursday, November 14, 2013 Deuteronomy 16:20-22 20 You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 21 “You shall not plant for yourself any tree, as a wooden image, near the altar which you build for yourself to the Lord your God. 22 You shall not set up a sacred pillar, which the Lord your God hates. The people of Israel were very quick to make idols for themselves, even after knowing the inheritance God had prepared for them. Even after emptying a place for Him in our hearts, the world will still try to take its place in us. We have to be aware of this and remain faithful to setting apart our hearts for Him alone. Naturally, we will find our hearts being tugged in different directions over time, but we have to commit to turning them back to Him whenever we feel them wandering away. According to our ability, we need to be vigilant and watchful to be noble and virtuous in His sight. We have to be in our Father’s likeness to inherit what He gives us. What are the things you find your heart drawn to most? Do you have other altars in your heart for other things? Lord, My heart is quick to turn away from You to other things. Please continually remind me of the inheritance You’ve prepared for me. Turn my heart back to You whenever it wanders. Amen
