Todays Cultural Corner... Sierra Leone! Singer and guitarist, - TopicsExpress

Todays Cultural Corner... Sierra Leone! Singer and guitarist, Geraldo Pino (1939-2008), was the son of a Nigeria-based lawyer, and he rebelled against his background by playing music. He impressed Fela Kuti (then still Ransome Kuti) when he performed in Lagos, Nigeria. It is said that Kuti then moved to America in order to promote his music because he didnt believe he could compete with Geraldo Pinos popularity in Africa. You can see clearly from this single song where Fela got his inspiration - from the Hammond to the Western funk, and possibly even to the lyrical message. Now, i dunno about the never trust a woman line cause i strongly believe its the one thing this world does need to do. now! Besides, one can never be truly free if one cannot trust.
