Todays Devotion- Denial [Matthew 16:24] To follow Christ requires us to quit following self. In the words of Jesus, we must first deny self. Second, we must take up our cross. This cross represented suffering suffering and death. Third, we must follow Christ. All three are necessary to true discipleship. If we do not deny self, we promote self. If we do not take up our cross, we walk apart from the cross. If we do not follow Christ, we follow someone of something else. True spiritual development is often a painful process, because we can no longer live as we desire but rather as He desires. Believing in Jesus is free; becoming like Jesus is costly. Let us count the cost, take up our cross, and follow Christ. Have a prosperous New year. May it overflow with good health, prosperity, and favor.
