Todays Devotion Advises Us to Watch found in Mark 12:1 - 13:37 - Please Read the scriptures & this devotion . God Bless Each of you that are faithful. ~Pastor Betty Read Mark 12:1 through 13:37 “What I say to you, I say to everyone: “‘Watch!’” (Mark 13:37). In Mark: 13:33–36, three different words are used for “watch.” The first word has to do with physical sight as opposed to blindness. Jesus said, “When you see these things coming to pass, look up.” We are to use our physical sight to be aware of things going on around us. The second word refers to being awake and watchful. This word is sometimes connected with prayer. Again, Jesus told His disciples to watch and pray so they would not fall into temptation. The third word is similar in meaning to the first two with the added idea of not only using our physical sight and being watchful but staying that way. We are to keep our eyes open and stay awake. We are to exercise the utmost care in staying vigilant. When we realize that Jesus gave this command to “watch” in the context of His second coming, this word takes on added significance. Challenge for Today: Peter reinforced Jesus’ command to “watch” by challenging us to “be alert and of sober mind” (1 Peter 5:8). Are we staying alert? Please Read: Mark 13:26–37 - ~Pastor Betty
