Todays Devotion Topic LEAVE HER ALONE Text: John 12: 1- 7 1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.” Amen Beloved, tell Judas to leave Mary alone. Allow her to worship; to let the sweet fragrance of her worship fill the throne room. It is her choice to honor the King of Kings with the most expensive perfume- why are you indignant? Life became meaningful for her family only after Jesus entered in. She was locked up in a sin trap for years. Abused and despised, she yearned to be free from these sins that bound her. She could have died that day, but Jesus showed up, saved her, refused to condemn but gave her a chance to live again. He even allows her (who was unworthy) to sit under His fertile and listen to words of eternal life. THIS PERFUME IS HER OFFERING! Judas, was with Jesus when their only brother became ill. They sent word to the Lord to come quickly- for they believed Him as healer. But when Lazarus passed, all their hopes were shattered. Yet Jesus raised him from the dead; and proved to them that He was more than the Healer they know- HE IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. Pondering through these and more, she has decided to worship at His feet and care less what anyone will say. Ofcourse, she knows the value of her perfume. She knows it is expensive. As a matter of fact, that is even the reason she brought it in the first place- a very expensive perfume to honor Jesus. But you see that is not the only thing she brought but you cant see because you only care about the money. What is even priceless in this worshipful act is her entire SELF lying prostrate with tears- streaming from a well of gratitude deep within and the decision to wipe His feet with her most valuable asset- HER HAIR. Above all this, is an inward decision and vowed she has made to walk with Jesus even to the point of the cross and beyond. Something that you (Judas) will not do. And guess what, the Master is aware of all this. HE IS GOD! So leave her alone, join in the worship if you may. You have a chance to repent whiles the Master is near, Judas. Why are you critical of Mary in this worshipful atmosphere just for your selfish interest? Jesus is watching you both. He accepts Marrys offering to Him and rejects your decision to help poor. He knows your decision to help the poor is not even sincere. There are many Marys going to church today, join in the worship if you may Judas, for the Master is watching both of you. HE KNOWS YOUR HEART. See you at church. (yonghana.or g, Like our Facebook page: Y OUTREACH NETWORK)
