Todays #FFF Friday Foster Feature is Jan Merideth Winters, one of the fosters of our heartworm positive aussies we featured last week! (and proud momma of an adorable new puppy!) Thank you, Jan! In her own words, Jan describes her experience as a foster and how glad she is to be involved: I got into rescue because I had just lost my Aussie. In my search I came across Aussie rescue. I filled out an application to adopt and then as I read more I went back and filled out the app to foster. Was not sure I could do it, really hard to let go after you have loved them. Laura reached out and I was on my way. Mar-Bay she was an owner surrender that we found out she was almost 10 years old and they decided they didnt want her anymore. I kept her. Then there was Shelby, she was one of the HMSO dogs. She got away from me and had a tragic end. And then I got Frankie!!! My heartworm positive doggie. What a gorgeous handsome sweetheart!!! It has been the hardest thing to watch him go through the treatments. I am not sure who was suffering more. But we are at the end, and in spite all of what he has been through, is a happy sweet boy. To anyone who is interested I would tell them just do it!! You will never regret helping a dog that just wants someone to love them. It will be hard to say goodbye but you know that there is another one out there that needs you so we take in another.
