Todays FOL (Foundation of Learning) statement: Experiences with instruments such as drums give your children practice with their motor grading skills. Thats a big phrase, but it means that when they tap the drum, the volume of the sounds they make gives them immediate feedback about the strength of their movement. This is the same motor planning skill your children will use when writing their name without breaking the pencil lead, giving a baby sibling or puppy a hug without hurting them, or when your child is learning how to drive without pushing too hard on the accelerator.
