Todays Good News On 8-10-14 at 10:55pm officers were dispatched to the 1300blk of Pine Ln. in reference to a burglary in progress. The homeowner heard a noise coming from an attached garage and upon investigating the noise he surprised a subject attempting to break into the vehicles parked in the garage. The homeowner attempted to tackle the suspect and when they both fell the suspect lost one of his shoes. He got up and fled the area. Officers surrounded the area and received information that the suspect had been seen walking on Russell Ave. back towards Pine Lane. Officer Aaron Harrell was on foot in the 2700 blk of 12th st. when he observed the suspect approach and unoccupied car and attempt to enter it. As he approached the suspect, the suspect ran and officer Harrell was able to apprehend him as he tried to jump over a privacy fence. The suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, knife, prescription medication, flashlight, handcuffs, cash and a large amount of loose change. The 18yoa Nederland resident was arrested for burglary of a habitation and later transported to the Jefferson County jail. Investigators later learned that the suspect had burglarized several vehicles in the area that have not been reported as of yet.
