Todays Gospel (Lk 6:43-49) talks about good trees producing good fruits and building your house upon a rock. Simply put, todays gospel tells us it is not enough to simply listen to Jesus words or even to be in relationship with Jesus. No, to be a disciple, one must act. One must respond. I submit, that when we are in real love relationship with Jesus, the response can come naturally. We must be intentional but the response will flow out of the relationship. I say this because of the phrase for from the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks. This is not just saying that good fruit comes from a good tree. It is also an indication to me that when the heart is full, action cant help but come forth. The fruits of a disciple is marked by faith, hope and love, justice, prudence, fortitude and temperance. And about building our house upon a rock, is the kind of foundation we build our lives upon will determine whether we can survive the storms that are sure to come. It takes foresight to know how a foundation will stand up against adverse conditions. So, let us read what He says, hear what He says, and apply what He says. ....... Lord Jesus, You are the firm foundation and source of life and strength for me. Please give me wisdom and strength to live according to Your truth. Amen !! Alleluia !!
