Todays Horse Story for the Month of Giving: Meet Canela. - TopicsExpress

Todays Horse Story for the Month of Giving: Meet Canela. Canela is a five year old, mustang mare. Her parents were BLM mustangs who were turned out on a pasture, not handled, and allowed to breed. BEHS was then asked to help the county remove the entire herd from their owners when Canela was just two years old. She, the mare who was likely her dam, and a foal who was likely her sister were hanging out together in the herd, and they had to be weaned from each other so they could begin rehabilitation and gentling. Canelas foster home rehabilitated her quickly and helped her learn to trust humans. She was adopted in 2013 but returned in 2014 because she was not doing well with the person her adopter had to train her. Canela can be sensitive and needs someone who is willing to work with her. Were willing to help her find that right person. We all hate when horses dont work out with adopters - but weve set up our adoption program so that all horses go out with a trial period and must be returned if their adopter cannot keep them - for any reason. This means the BEHS horses have a safety net. And your donations help make that happen. Please consider donating to be part of the safety net for Canela and her friends! Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society is a 501c3 equine welfare organization that helps horses throughout Texas and beyond. Each day until Christmas, we’re going to share the story of one of the horses we have helped this year. As you get to know the horses of BEHS, I hope you’ll find it in your heart to make a donation to help us help them! Your funds will enable us to save horses from neglect, abuse, and abandonment and find them new homes. You can mail your donation to BEHS, PO Box 632, College Station, TX 77841 or send a donation via Paypal at https://paypal/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=SYT2Y5ZPDF648 Anyone who donates $25 or more will get a complimentary 12 month membership which includes access to our email lists, discounted (and possibly free) admission to some events, and makes you a part of the Bluebonnet Family! All donors will receive a thank you card in the mail with a photo of one of our horses. If you want to help but cannot make a financial contribution, donations of new or used horse tack, farm/ranch items, horse-themed home décor, art or jewelry are always appreciated. These items can be sold at our 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo to help raise funds. Or consider becoming a foster home or volunteer. Whatever your talent, Bluebonnet has a place for you. We can work together to make a difference.
