Todays Indie Throwback Pick Artist: The Republic Tigers The Republic Tigers, an indie band from Kansas City, was born on the ashes of Lead Singer Ken Jankowski’s former band “The Golden republic” and collaboration with KC local musician Adam McGill. The name Republic Tigers is actually Jankowski’s high school mascot and he describes his band’s sound as “half-organic, half synthetic, kind of like how all of our lives are now”. The band’s EP was released in 2007 and was recorded in Jankowski’s bedroom. He says If you listen carefully, he suggests, you might hear crickets and traffic and cop cars, creaking of the floors and drunk roommates running into the walls. The band reached their peak with the release of their second album “Keep Color”, when Itunes offered their single “Buildings and Mountains” as a free download for a week. To me this track reminds me of eating perfectly cooked Tiramasu with all that fluffiness and layers. Right now check out The Republic Tigers “Buildings and Mountains. https://youtube/watch?v=R6VuCl-flto
