Todays Inspiration..... When ever someone quotes scripture to you and you are not sure of it, do you check it? There are so many false prophets out there and they want you to believe what they want you to believe. That is one of the best things about being a Baptist, they encourage us to check it, they want us to read along as its quoted. So, why would you go to Church without your Bible? By the end of the first century, the apostle John had to write to the young Church, beloved do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because there are many false prophets that have gone out into the world. Deception has been around since the Garden of Eden. We have to be honest and recognize that Adam and Eve had never been confronted with a lie or with deception until Satan came to them in the Garden. The very same way he invades our lives. Satan is the arch deceiver and will stop at nothing to corrupt us. He knows hes already defeated, but he wants to take as many of us as he can with him. Adam and Eve were innocent and naïve. Sure, they should have simply believed and obeyed God. but Satan was good at his craft. He still is...After all, he had already deceived one third of the angels in heaven and led them in rebellion against God. Given his power to deceive, John was right in warning the Church to test every spirit to see if its from God or not. And that message remains relevant today. Refresh your commitment today to test everything by the word of God. The surest defense against spiritual deception is knowledge of spiritual truth.....When I went through my DC class (disciple curriculum), this was one of 52 memory verses that had to be memorized. 1 John 4:1-2.
