Todays #LaborDayCountdown highlights a group that is so dear to my heart — the United Steelworkers (USW) , who are quite literally family to me: my grandfather Jack Haugh, who made railroad cars at Pullman Standard; and my uncle Roy Haugh, who was a member of USW 1196 at Allegheny Ludlum. Also, lots of love to Fran Arabia, Greg Bortz, Todd Barbiaux, Bill Campbell, Don Poorman and all the members of USW 1196, my hometown steel mill!! Through wars and peacetime, recessions and prosperity, the USW fought like hell for #RealFamilyValues: fair wages, reasonable hours and safe working conditions. And lets not forget the amazing strength, activism and grit of the Women of Steel. From the bottom of my heart, I thank the USW for its support of middle-class Americans — and for supporting this campaign to help them thrive once again as the backbone of our nation.
