Todays Lecture on Versions of a Life: The Artistry of Dalit Activism by Associate Prof. Christi Merill at University at Buffalo organised by Department of English and Asian Studies Program. It was really good to hear babasaheb from her. She is an associate professor at university at Michigan, South Asian Literature and Postcolonial Theory, Asian Languages and Cultures and Comparative Literature; Associate Chair, Center for South Asian Studies. She focused on some caste based discriminatory events from babasahebs life from waiting for Visa. She also talks about Navayana group and the book Annihilation of castes. She also talked about Arundhati Roy and her introduction. She also referred to critics Round Table India and she read entire Anoop Kumars reply to Arundhati Roys introduction. Also there was discussion on why Arundhati Roy requires to write an introduction to Annihilation of Caste? She also differentiates between Gandhi and Dr. Ambedkar and exposes Gandhis thinking against untouchables and humanity. She teaches Dr. B R Ambedkar in her university. She is aware about Indian caste system and knows the name of revolutionaries. Also there was some discussion on Mahatma Fule and Savitrimai Fule as point was about gender discrimination and first school for girls.
