Todays Message: Spend A Little Time With God. We just love to go see friends and family. Whether its a family cookout, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah (for our Jewish faithful,) it all has the same meaning; we all get together and spend a joyous time. Its the feeling of closeness that we crave. I miss the old days when our family would get together like this. Most of my family has gone Home to Jesus. I still crave the closeness, but its no longer there. My old friends have drifted away to their own lives and families, the closeness is gone there, too. Let me tell you this, folks...you DONT have to be without the closeness you crave. God wants to hold you close! My dear friends, life hands us all sorts of things to do; bills need to be paid, the car has to be washed, the lawn mowed, the kids taken to ballet or football practice or whatever other million-plus things you have to do. Families may only have a precious few hours between the time the whole family is under the same roof until the kids and you go to bed. You can barely take time to watch them grow. Theres no closeness. A solid Christian family can make the most of this time. The family that prays together, stays together. God wants to hold ALL of you close!! God is there for you....ALL THE TIME!! Hes waiting for you to spend some time with Him! Let me ask you this: are you REALLY in control of your life? You have a good job making good money, a nice home, and everybodys well-fed and well-clothed. Do you think YOU did that by yourself? I hate to call you wrong....but you didnt! God was there to guide you. He found you that perfect someone to spend your life with, to bear your children, to love you and only you. God directed you to that well-paying job, or, the entry-level job that ended up promoting you to that well-paying job that keeps your family well-fed, well-clothed, and with a roof over your head. God was close to you when a family member, friend or loved one left this world to go Home to Jesus. He was there through it all and Hes STILL there through it all!!! God always has time for you...... ......but will YOU set aside some time for HIM??? Its so easy for us to forget God...until something goes wrong. Then we run to Him. Im NOT saying this is the wrong thing to do; we should ALWAYS seek the help and guidance of God in times of trouble. HOWEVER...we should spend time with God even when things are going well for us. We should spend time with God in the best of times as well as the worst of times. This time I spend with you, writing my little messages, is a most enjoyable thing for me. I sit here on my bed, with a sleeping cat curled up in my lap, peaceful and relaxed, and let the Holy Spirit guide my hands to write Gods message for you. This is my time with God. I just tore half my dashboard apart to repair my radio so I could listen to The JOY-FM when I drive. This is also my time with God; driving to my destination, wherever it is, listening to worship music (and singing along) giving praise to my God!! God doesnt want you on your knees praying ALL the time, but He DOES want to know that you are there and youre thinking about Him. He craves the closeness with you. PLEASE dont deny Him that. He loves you more than youll ever know, and He wants to be close to you. Oh, my friends, it is SO VERY TRUE...what a FRIEND you have in Jesus!!! You spend time with your earthly friends...how about spending some quality time with your Saviour? You spend time with your earthly family...why not spend some time with your Father? It will do your heart and soul such a world of good!! Blessings! Don.
