Todays Obscure Character: Alan Armstrong aka Spy Smasher (briefly Crime Smasher) Alan was a wealthy athlete and aviator. His life changed when he met Eve Corby and fell in love. Eves father was an admiral in US Navy Intelligence and shared some of his secrets with Alan. Alan donned a garish costume and began adventures as Spy Smasher, helping to defend the homeland from spies and sabotage. After the World War II ended, Alan briefly changed his name to Crime Smasher, but reverted back to the classic Spy Smasher again. He remained an active hero for years. Spy Smasher has mostly not been used by DC. He occasionally appears in flashbacks about World War II and has not, to my knowledge, appeared in the new 52. A young woman named Katrina Armstrong picked up his legacy and was believed to be related to him in the pre-new 52 DC Universe, but she was not always shown in a positive light. dc.wikia/wiki/Alan_Armstrong_%28Earth-S%29
