Todays #RandomObscureReference was: Listen, the last man who said that to me was Archie Leach, just a week before he cut his throat. Thats one of the many great subversive lines in His Girl Friday, the great Howard Hawks movie with the 180-page script that, with twice as fast dialogue last less than 90 minutes. Its actually a remake of The Front Page, about battling newspaper reporters who happen to be ex lovers, starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. Why this line, uttered by Cary Grant though, which was not in the original script, but was improvise. Its a bit of a subversive joke, but Archibald Leach was Cary Grants real name. Not something that was common knowledge at the time, but a nice little in-joke for us cinephiles.
