Todays Round Up ; The U8s travelled to RPV Colts & despite a late rally, got beaten 11-6 in this goal fest. The U9s travelled to Corinthian Casuals & here are a few words from the Manager Aaron Wells ; I was a bit optimistic about todays match. But from the kick off Temu and Taylor passed the ball too each other and bang, a goal within the first few seconds of the game, Temu the scorer. Sam at the back who was captain today had an amazing game along side Liam who again performed well. Their understanding at a young age is brilliant, they talk to each other which makes my life easier. Temu scored our 2nd goal from a free kick. Jayden also scored 2 goals today, one was a candidate for goal of the season. Sean has had a tough start to the season, missed a few games due to being ill so has had to start on the bench but his attitude has been brilliant, he rolled up his sleeves and got on with it, so thats a credit to him. Harley played again in goal improving every game and getting more confident in goal. He has now kept two clean sheets and thats a hard thing to do in mini football. Well done to the rest of the boys, it was a great squad effort. im proud of you all. The U10s ( Blues ) were in action at Hannibal Way & this report is from their manager Darren ; This week saw us face another tough challenge in the form of organised opposition Westside, who it should be noted were a great little died and their parents and officials were 1st class guests at Hannibal today! Our squad consisted of Blake Salmon, Jacob Horle, Jonathan Sentamu, Isreal Ballou, Leo Ostinelli, Norbert Kopec (match captain), Reece Salmon & Takiyoudine Ali. We had eight players today due to the introduction of Taki signed during the week and stepping up from under 9s to play a year up to aid with the formation of 2 teams at this age group. Hopefully our final member Freddie will be ready for next weeks match. The first half saw the new SCR boys under considerable sustained pressure and half time the boys were looking a little deflated having conceded several goals, both well worked by Westside and additionally through some defensive lapses in concentration, but that said there are already clear signs that this could develop into a very tidy squad as the boys picked themselves up to go again. In fact despite the heavy half time score line we had played some very encouraging passing football in contrary to Westsides more individual and direct style. A good chat revitalised the boys which resulted in a tight second half, which saw us narrowly lose despite the teams first goal from eventual man of the match Jonathan Sentamu. Jonathan was tenacious and refused to give up despite his first shot being well blocked and the young SCR side enjoyed the biggest cheer as Jonathan fired a curling left footed shot past the Westside keeper for a deserved colts goal. It should be noted that all the lads are a credit to their parents and the club and huge thanks must also go to club ref Steve Green (also for assisting with goals) and not forgetting all the parents that helped with the erection and dismantling of the goals as well as warming up the boys during the switching of the goal posts prior to kick off! Boys be patient these are just the first small steps on what will be an exciting journey... Well done & thank you, Darren & Ben Our U11 Reds were in cup action & played against Abbey Rangers from the Championship ( Division higher than the Reds ). The game ended in defeat but I am sure Manager Graham Bayles would have learned a lot from this test & will have the lads ready to go again next weekend. The U11 Blues were away at KPR & Justin Arram ( Manager ) reported this ; We had a tough but fair game, we lost 2-1 with oliver scoring his first goal for the club. The team are starting to gel on our second game together some boys have never played in a team ! Rhys Glover was man of match, played in 2 positions & hard to pick but well done Rhys! Keep up the good work, your rewards will come. Simon, Nuno & Charlies U12s travelled to Barnes Eagles & gave a controlled, measured performance to grab the points. The U13 reds were in fine form to back up last weeks 12-0 win & here is a report from Adrian Farley ( Manager ) ; Following last weeks emphatic win against Colliers Wood United the Reds hammered 11 past Mole Valley Rangers today. Archie Watts (6), Jorden Mbola (2), Deajohon Oladipo (2) and Jaheim Edwards made it 11-0. A slow start saw Brandon Farley called into early action pulling off an excellent save from a breakaway. This seemed to sting the boys into action and the boys went into half time 4-0 to he good. Following a slight roasting from the manager at half time the boys came out in the second half and dominated right up to the final whistle. Man of the Match was six goal hero Archie Watts closely followed by Jorden Mbola. Next week we hit the road away to Chipstead. Lets hope we can continue with this excellent start. Well done boys The U13 Blues started their campaign today & were straight into Cup action against opponents from the division above. A few words from Steve Green ( Manager ) It was SCR Blues u13s first run out of the season in the cup. We started brightly and were 1-0 down at half time to a team in a higher division. During the second half we ran out of steam and conceded further goals. Mason Jenkins in goal produced some fine saves and was voted man of the match The U14s put last weeks result behind them & ran out 1-4 winners at Ashtead Colts with goals from Sami, Jayden & 2 from Javel. And Finally, the U15s won 5-7 at Esher Youth in what was a great game to watch. Despite taking an early 0-1 lead the 15s conceded 4 goals in 10 minutes after some kamikaze defending. To their credit they stuck to task & drew level at 4-4 just prior to the interval. The momentum was with the 15s & they raced into a 4-7 lead after 65 minutes. A late goal was conceded to make it 5-7 but the points were safe. This team has worked extremely hard the last 2 months & the rewards are there to see. Apart from a bad 10 minute spell there was some fantastic football played today. Well done to all the lads & looking forward to the County Cup this coming Sunday. A huge well done to every player, Manager & supporter, #togetherwewillmakeithappen #scrfamily
