Todays Saints: Saints Simon and Jude. Two great Apostles of Jesus - TopicsExpress

Todays Saints: Saints Simon and Jude. Two great Apostles of Jesus are celebrated jointly in the Western Church this day. St. Simon was called Zealous, or Zealot, not because he was a Zealot but because of his zeal for the Jewish law before his conversion. It is possible that St. Simon was granted the gift of bi-location due to the large amount of information we have from him historically dated in places like Egypt, North Africa, the Black Sea Region, as well as Britain. Supporting this faithful notion is also that of the multiple claims of his martyrdom at numerous sites, and in numerous ways. St. Jude Thaddeus was the Son of Cleophas and Mary, who stood at the foot of Christs cross. He was said to have looked a lot like Our Lord. He preached in Syria, Mesopotamia, and Persia with Saint Simon and was known for his healing and exorcist abilities. It was recorded that he could exorcise a pagan idol, causing the demons to flee and the statue to crumble. He was martyred in 1st Century Persia.
