Todays Song of the Day: And here we have arrived at the Beatles - TopicsExpress

Todays Song of the Day: And here we have arrived at the Beatles Christmas Record widely considered to be the masterpiece of the bunch, Christmas Time (Is Here Again). 1967 was a landmark year for The Beatles. I really dont have to explain why. Sgt. Pepper. Thats all I have to say. Christmas Time (Is Here Again) follows a similar format to Pantomime: Everywhere Its Christmas, however the concept this time is a little more loose. The story of this record essentially amounts to a visit from the Beatles to the BBC, and thats it. This results in a tap dance, a game show, an interview with a sketchy politician, a radio drama, and excerpts of the only finished and published Beatles Christmas song. If theres one thing that people remember from this record, it is the title song and yes it is fantastic. While this record only features small excerpts and the only official release was an edit of the song on the B-side of the Free as a Bird, bootlegs exist of the full track. If this post gets a few likes, I may post the full song as well. However, as time soon showed, this record was the last united effort between the four Beatles. 1968 would turn out to be a stressful year for the band, and while the White Album showed that cracks were beginning to emerge, nothing would drive the point home than the next two years Christmas records.
