Todays Tech Term Parallel Computing Parallel computing is a form of computation in which a large number of calculations are carried out simultaneously on hardware run in parallel. Parallel computation allows for some calculations and processes to be performed faster than serial computations (wherein each command must finish before the next is executed). Originally parallel computing was the sole domain of large scale supercomputers and specialty computation machines, but as the cost of making exponentially more powerful CPUs has increased, manufactures have opted to increase computing power by constructing multi-core units that run many of their instruction sets in parallel.
