Todays Thankfulness: We just got back from a concert at The Birchmere. Im thankful to have a wonderful music venue like The Birchmere -- a funky, old-fashioned, very intimate music hall -- available to us. This was a concert by Hermans Hermits starring Peter Noone. We wouldnt normally have picked out this one, being more folk music fans, but a woman we met at a folk music concert last spring told me they were not to be missed. Im so thankful she recommended them and we took her recommendation! What an amazing show! If you looked up energy or extrovert in a dictionary, it could be illustrated with a picture of Peter Noone. We enjoyed it tremendously. One of my favorite songs of theirs, which they performed tonight, is Mrs. Brown, Youve Got a Lovely Daughter. My last name is correctly pronounced Brown -- its the German word for the color brown. When I was a freshman in college, we had a Mothers Weekend in the fall, and my boyfriend at the time called our college radio station and dedicated this song to my mother.
