Todays Thought: Afraid of the dark Be not afraid of the darkness when your light can shine. This little light of mine, Im going 2 let it shine... Darkness existed in the beginning. The earth was without form, void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Gen. 1:2 Then in verse 3 God said let there be light and in verse 4 He separated the light from the darkness. Selah. Did Jesus not do the same thing in His ministry and on the cross? He tells us in John 8:12 I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. There are many references to light in the Bible. Light is definitely a great thing. Lets take a look: Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Proverbs 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Matthew 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 6:22-23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Luke 1:79 (Jesus) To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Acts 13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles... Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. 1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
