Todays Thought: Romans 1:16-21 Im not ashamed of the gospel; it is Gods own power for salvation to all who have faith in God, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Gods righteousness is being revealed in the gospel, from faithfulness for faith, as it is written, The righteous person will live by faith. Gods wrath is being revealed from Heaven against all the ungodly behavior and the injustices of human beings who silence the truth with injustice. This is because what is known about God should be plain to them because God made it plain to them. Ever since the creation of the world, Gods invisible qualities- eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, because they are understood through the things God has made. So humans are without excuse; Although they knew God, they didnt honor God as God or thank Him. Instead, their reasoning became pointless, and their foolish hearts were darkened. As Christians, we should not be ashamed for those around us to know we are a believer in Jesus Christ. It is that belief in Christ, the confession of sins, the repentance and turning away from sin, and the daily faithful living in Christ, that sets us apart for His Kingdom. As a Christian, we are to live a live that is by faith, a life that brings Him honor and glory. God has plainly said in His Word what is right and what is wrong. We can all read this chapter and know for a surety what God says is right and wrong. It is not what this person or that person says.....it is what Gods says. God says in vs.29-31 injustice, wicked behavior, greed, evil behavior, jealousy, murder, fighting, deception, malice, gossips,slanders, those who hate God, rude, proud, those who invent ways to be evil, disobedient to parents, those without understanding, disloyal, without affection, without mercy are all sins agains a Holy God. God says that humans are without excuse. So many times one knows God but doesnt honor HIm or respect Him as the One True God by the choices they make daily. There comes a time that God will give one up to a reprobate mind. (vs.26) God says there are even some that will persist in such practices, even after they know God says it is wrong, and keep doing them and will encourage others to sin too. When one knows something is wrong and chooses to do it anyway.....it is a sin. Gods Word serves as a wake-up call to us. It clearly shows us the right path for a eternal home in Heaven. But you and I cant be ashamed of Christ. We have to stand firm on the Word of God in love to those around us. We have to daily live by faith by daily putting our hope and trust in Christ. We have to pray that God will keep us pure and unspotted by this world. We need to honor God in all we say and do. May God help us to not be ashamed but to point people to God. May those around us realize it is not what I say is right or wrong, or what a Preacher says is right or wrong, or another Christian says is right or wrong........It is what Gods says is right or wrong that will determine ones eternity. Take time to really read His Word. He has made it plain and when one stands before God, one will be without excuse. May we live to show we are not ashamed of Jesus, the One who died, rose, and is coming again! Even so, Lord Jesus, come!
