Todays Weather Report Fort Kent, Maine & the Upper Saint John Valley 6:45 am | Thursday, November 6, 2014 ***Winter Storm Warning in effect from November 7, 01:00 AM EST until November 7, 07:00 PM EST*** Thursday, November 6 & Friday, November 7, 2014 A deck of stratus clouds can be found across much of the Valley this morning as a low pressure system moves towards southern New England from the Great Lakes over the course of the day. This low pressure system will then move into the Gulf of Maine and head towards the Bay of Fundy. Rain followed by rain mixed with snow is possible this evening followed by all snow tonight and overnight into Friday. Snow is then expected to continue all day Friday before winding down to snow showers later Friday. Accumulations around 8-12 inches will be possible in Fort Kent and the Saint John Valley. Indeed, winter precipitation forecast charts indicate around 12 inches across the entire SJV based on present models. Liquid equivalent will be in the range of 3/4 to 1 inch. Light west winds around 4-6 mph today will become northeasterly and increase to 6-12 mph overnight. Northerly winds on Friday will be breezy at around 14-18 mph with wind chills in the lower 20s at times. Todays high tops out around 43° with a low tonight near 32°. Fridays high will not vary much--climbing a degree to 33° perhaps. Clearing skies Friday night will allow some radiational cooling with temperatures falling into the middle 20s from most location under partly cloudy skies. Saturday, November 8, 2014 High pressure builds in Saturday bringing mostly sunny skies, but cold conditions. Saturdays high will only reach about 33° with west winds blowing around 10-12 mph. Saturday nights low will be around 22° in Fort Kent. Some snow showers may occur overnight into Sunday as a front approaches the region. Further Ahead Snow showers are possible Sunday before high pressure briefly builds in through Monday afternoon. Clouds increase later Monday as another front approaches bringing a chance for snow showers Tuesday. Snow showers and partly to mostly cloudy conditions persist into Wednesday based on present models.
