Todays discussion, symbology of hate. A young, southern woman - TopicsExpress

Todays discussion, symbology of hate. A young, southern woman was on social media decrying all the ignorant people who think she is racist for having a Confederate flag tattooed on her body. She went on to educate all of her detractors by describing how the symbology is all about southern pride and freedom. She went to great lengths to illustrate all the components of the flag and what they originally meant. So, naturally, I sent up a thought for her to consider. What about the swastika? The swastika is an ancient symbol of well being and luck. You can find ancient symbols of swastikas going back 10,000 years from China to Finland to Russia to England and so forth. It is probably one of the widest spread symbols on Earth and throughout history. And yet, because a monster adopted this symbol in the 1930s, NONE of theses nations all over the world continue to incorporate it into their modern expressions of well being. So the thought of the day is, what are some other symbols that used to mean something else but modern interpretations have altered what they stand for now?....do we still cling to them at the cost of division and hate?.....can we convince anyone who doesnt care about the positive history because of the current harm it causes them?...
