Todays exhortation - Holy Spirit If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:11) Salvation through the death of Gods Son Jesus on the cross for man is His best gift to us. But theres another gift that as a result of salvation we have all received and that is the gift of The Holy Spirit. How awesome is this gift ? Hes so awesome that John the Baptist wanted to have Him when Jesus went to be baptised by him. The bible says, Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” (Matthew 3:13-14) In another verse David wrote, Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. (Psalm 51:11 NIV). The Lord Jesus Himself was also very keen for us to receive The Holy Spirit. The bible says He said, Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. (John 16:7) This amazing gift of God is free. I can not put into words the difference He makes in ones life but when you get to know Him your life will be radically transformed. He brings the reality of God into our hearts and mind and through Him we can do what Jesus did. Heres the thing, Hes also The Lord. The bible says, Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17). If you have received Jesus as your Lord and saviour then you have this gift. But if you want to gift of the utterance of The Holy Spirit then ask The Lord and He will freely give Him to you. The Holy Spirit is not an it, Hes a person and the bible says, And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30). God bless you.
