Todays forecast is brought to you Black Isle Furniture, supporters of Highland Hospice Project Build Appeal. Blowin a hoolie with widespread gales across the north and west today, storm force winds across the Northern Isles at first will ease. Sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery and falling as hail, sleet and snow with temporary blizzard conditions at times leading to nasty conditions on higher routes. Temperatures today reaching 4 or 5c but falling in the showers. Staying windy overnight with further sleet or snow showers, some thundery along with icy stretches. Several cm of lying and drifting snow is expected away from more coastal areas. Sunday will start with further sleet or snow showers but will be replaced by persistent rain from the west. Windy once again with gales, increasing to severe gales overnight with gusts of 70mph in exposed places. Monday will be a very wild day once again, widespread severe gales are likely with storm force winds and gusts of 80-90mph across Caithness, Sutherland, Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles. Rain will be replaced by heavy showers, some thundery which will turn to sleet and snow. Conditions will ease on Tuesday but it will remain unsettled with further rain or wintry showers.
