Todays lesson part.1 c which is the scientific symbol for The Speed of Light... or for a better understanding, how fast light travels from point A to point B... Now General Relativity dictates that the speed of light is the one Cosmological Constant in the all the Universe (nothing in all the cosmos can travel faster than c)... Now hold on to your hats fam & friends, because light travels at a whopping 186,000 miles per second... and just to give you a better handle on how fast that truly is, the Earth has a circumference of 24,901 miles around the equator... if I was standing on a spot anywhere on the earth and turned on a hypothetical flashlight that traveled around the earth, the light from the flash light would have circled the globe 8 times in one second... Now here on earth that is a unimaginable speed but, in the vastness of space it is not enough speed in traveling terms... here is a good example; Proxima Centauri which is 4.5 light years away in the Alpha Centauri star system is the closest neighbouring star to our Sun... Traveling at the phenomenal speed of light, it would take humans 4.5 years to reach our nearest neighbor... part 2 tomorrow... hope you enjoyed... NY Fernando Gonzales
