Todays malware warning is Optimizer Pro. PC Optimizer Pro is technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program. This malware will state that there are several/hundreds of errors on a persons computer, when there may be nothing wrong with a persons computer. If a user follows the programs instructions and attempt to clean as it requests it will often strongly recommend that the user buys the paid version of the program. Removal of this program is not difficult and can be done through the Programs and Features area of Window. Several remnants such as changed homepages or any other malicious software may still remain after the standard removal process is complete.
