Todays post relates to funding for Kinder students: Students - TopicsExpress

Todays post relates to funding for Kinder students: Students living with Disability in Kinder are not funded from the SDR or 55-70 IQ buckets of money, but are offered support via money tagged as early intervention support to get them settled into school. In State schools the Govt provides the funds for the early intervention support (including Teacher Aides) HOWEVER if your child attends a Catholic or Independent school your child will not be funded by the Govt for early intervention services provided to students living with disability in State schools but rather the school is solely responsible for funding any support your child would need. So access to free support is only available in State schools. We think this is highly inequitable given Catholic & Independent schools can apply for State funding for these same students when they are in prep and will likely receive it. In our view parents should be able to choose the school they wish to send their child too and the Govt should not be offering early intervention support in one set of schools and leaving the other schools to work it out themselves. We would like to highlight this issue in the public domain but we need families who are willing to speak publicly about this issue if that is you or someone you know please message us and well let you know how you can help us.
