Todays selections. Market Rasen Corrin Wood Was very much in form last season with a reading of 2,2,1,3,3,2 and is now switched to chasing and certainly looked the part on the basis of last season.Sets the standard here in my book form its last run 267 days when a solid 2nd over 3 miles at Bangor On Dee over soft ground.Tried to make all but was just starting to struggle approaching 2 out when was being pushed along before being headed. Was switched out heading to the last but had nothing on the winner. This drop in trip may suit and some rain would also suit as no doubting best form has come in under foot conditions. The McCain yard have had plenty of runners out in the last 2 weeks in fact 34 of them and only 11 have failed to hit the first 3 in the placings which would put this yard in serious form. Can usually have a horse ready first time out and if can reproduce that run when last seen then would have the beating of this field. Market Rasen 1.30 The Magic Bishop (Currently 6/1 Back EW if above 5/1 or more) Was only 4Ls down in 2nd when last seen over 25 furlongs 11 days ago and that was after a 6 month break so a good race considering. That race was set in a decent time over the distance considering the going was soft and if allowing for the soft ground then this would just be ahead of the field coming into this race today. It is coming down 2 furlongs today not the most consistent sort who usually follows a good run by a few bad run , However can not be ignored on evidence of last run and even though it was staying on strongly in the run in over 25 furlongs I still feel it can put in a big effort over this shorter trip of 23 furlongs.Rain would help here and seems to enjoy the more testing ground and if everything falls into place then should be on the scene come the finish. Market Rasen 2.50 Greyfriars Drummer (Currently 8/1 Back EW if above 5/1 or more) Has not been seen for 473 days so fitness would be the obvious starting point here but I would imagine has been well worked at home coming from the Charlie Mann yard who has had a good two weeks so far.The Charlie Mann yard has been in form lately with a form reading of 1,PU,5,1,3,1 and this runner has to be respected even though coming off the back of a long lay off.Set a good time when winning over 19 furlongs here back in August last year and looks a staying sort who should get this trip. Will be up against it though as most of this field have had a run in the last month or so and will be meeting a near fully fit team. However saying that if it can be turned out ready then would have a big chance against this field today. Kempton 6.40 Lowther Reccomended EW Currently 16/1 - Has to be respected here after winning over C&D 3 starts ago off a 5lb lower mark in class 3 company.Has since ran in two class 2 races over 14 and 8 furlongs the last being a good contest never had the pace to get to the leaders over the 8 furlongs however ran to a good time on the clock to suggest it can at least place in a race like this today.Has already proved it can handle these conditions and dropped back into class 3 company tonight. If it has recovered from the 8 furlong race 5 days ago then it should go close around here. Kempton 7.10 Loyalty 17/2 / Clockmaker 8/1 (Both EW selections) Both of these selections where close to each other when seen at Lingfield 5 days ago with Loyalty just a nose in front of Clockmaker that day.both come here on the same marks and from a race which looks to have a good time about so puts these two just ahead of the field.Hard to split them on previous run but odds are generous enough to allow EW betting and a 10 runner field allows for two non runners and still pays the 3 places. That run LTO was over 8 furlongs and this is a drop down to 7 furlongs which should suit both and perhaps suit Clockmaker just that bit more who was staying on well under strong pressure when last seen but just never had the legs to get to the leaders.Loyalty may need more than this 7 furlong trip but can not be discounted on terms of last run and should be on the scene tonight. The draw probably suits Clockmaker more coming from stall 3 and just off the rail.
